Performing Arts

performing artsAs well as being a fully trained Hypnotherapist I am also a professional musician and I believe I am uniquely qualified to understand many of the pressures facing musicians and performers. Having originally trained as a musician I began to investigate the use of Hypnosis as a treatment for performance anxiety and other psychological issues facing performers. I have a Masters Degree in psychology for musicians and it was during my studies that the potential benefits of hypnotherapy became clear. The positive results of my final thesis increased my interest and enthusiasm and after further training I decided to become a hypnotherapist myself. I am now a performance coach at Trinity College of Music and regularly treat musicians, singers and actors from many areas of the industry including London Orchestras and West end Musicals.

  • Hypnosis is especially useful in performance for many reasons.
  • Requires no prior training and is easily accessible to most individuals.
  • Achieves tangible results in a relatively short time and so fits into the often-busy schedule of performers.
  • Promotes relaxation and improved self-confidence thus making it especially useful in the treatment of performance anxiety.
  • Increases the vividness of imagery, which can in turn help with preparation for a performance, or in learning a new piece.
  • Helps to motivate and maintain enthusiasm, which can therefore be harnessed to increase the duration and effectiveness of rehearsal.
